The screen is telling you what your job is becoming.
With the 2026 release wave, Microsoft is changing the first thing you see when you open Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. Immersive Home, reaching general availability, replaces the classic landing page with what Microsoft calls an AI-first home: a greeting and a summary of your work, suggestions from AI agents, a ranked view of your spaces including the familiar finance and operations workspaces, and, notably, an agent activity overview with a direct path to discover and manage the agents operating inside the ERP. It is a small change in surface and a large one in intent.
What Immersive Home actually is
On the surface it is a smarter landing page, one that adapts to your most important work, offers a running summary, and cuts down on the endless navigation that has always defined an ERP. Underneath, it is something more pointed: the console for a workforce of agents. Microsoft has spent the 2026 release wave embedding agents across Finance and Operations, and Immersive Home is where a person now discovers what those agents are doing, reviews their activity, and steps in when needed. A View Activity control takes you straight from the home screen to the agent pages. The place you land when you open the ERP has quietly become the place you manage its automated labour.
The agents it is there to manage
It helps to be concrete about what is being supervised, because the abstraction hides how much routine work is moving. Across Dynamics 365 Finance and Business Central, agents now handle automated cash application by matching remittances to open invoices, chase overdue invoices with follow-ups shaped by each customer's risk profile, process accounts payable and route approvals, and perform the kind of three-way matching between purchase order, receipt and invoice that used to consume hours of an AP clerk's week. Microsoft pairs this with a control model that matters: administrators can bind each agent to a least-privilege role that restricts which forms and actions it can reach, and every agent action writes a full audit trail. Immersive Home is the window onto all of that, the single view where a person sees the fleet at work.
The tell in the design
Look at what Microsoft chose to put on the very first screen. Not a menu of modules to click into, but a summary of your work and a view of what the agents did. That is a quiet statement about whose job is changing and how. When the routine transactions are being handled by agents, the human who sits down at the ERP is not there to key entries anymore. They are there to supervise: to read the exceptions the agents could not resolve, approve the writes that need a human signature, and keep the fleet pointed the right way, the same governed, least-privilege, audit-logged posture we saw when SAP built a control tower for its agents. The interface is following the work, and the work has moved from the keyboard to the oversight.
A cockpit is not a compass
Here is the distinction to hold onto, because it is easy to lose under a slick new home screen. Immersive Home helps you watch and steer the agents. It does not decide where they should be going. It will show you, clearly and quickly, that the collections agent chased an overdue invoice and the payables agent matched a receipt, done faster and with fewer hands than before. What it will not tell you is whether the price quoted on that order was the margin-optimal one, whether the safety-stock level the system is defending is the right call for your cash position, or whether the pick path behind that shipment was anywhere near the shortest. Those are not questions about whether an agent acted. They are questions about whether the action was the best available one, and a management console, however good, does not answer them. A cockpit shows you the instruments. It does not choose the destination.
Why this gap widens as the agents multiply
It would be comforting to think the decision quality improves on its own as more agents arrive, but it does not, and the two things scale in opposite directions. Add more agents and the management surface becomes more important, because there is more activity to watch, more exceptions to triage, more privilege to govern, which is exactly why Microsoft is investing in Immersive Home now. But adding agents does nothing to make the decisions underneath them any wiser. Ten agents defending a mediocre reorder policy will defend it ten times as efficiently. Efficiency of execution and quality of decision are separate axes, and automating the first can make the cost of a poor second larger, not smaller, because now the whole operation runs the same average call faster.
What a Dynamics team should take from it
The practical read for a team live on Dynamics is to treat Immersive Home as what it is, a genuinely useful supervisory surface, and adopt it for exactly that: give your people the cockpit, set least-privilege roles deliberately, and use the audit trail. But do not mistake a better view of the agents for a better decision by them. Those are two different investments. The first is handed to you in the box. The second, deciding what optimal actually looks like for your margins, your customers and your building, is a separate layer you add on purpose, and it is the one that changes the number at the bottom of the page rather than the speed at which the page is filled in.
The layer above the cockpit, for Dynamics teams
